Lepakshi is a village in Ananthpur district about 120 km from Bangalore and 15 km from Hindupur, it has the frescoes and architecture from the Vijayanagara empire.

a breath of fresh air: illustrator and ceramicist polly fern

WELL LOVELIES! I ADMIT BE A FAN OF DISHES.

Jama's Alphabet Soup

On any given day, you’re likely to find British illustrator and ceramicist Polly Fern in her studio happily painting with her canaries Olive and Morris nearby.

Her birdie friends appear in her work, along with other domestic animals, garden flora, and winsome figures from halcyon days, who seem to thrive on the simple, everyday pleasures of rural life.

Polly grew up in the Norfolk countryside, but now lives in Norwich City, which is the most complete medieval city in the United Kingdom. She earned her BA in First Class Illustration in 2015 from Norwich University of the Arts.

Her charming folkloric style is detailed and delicate, inspired by history, local places and childhood stories. Her ceramic vases and platters, which are modern takes on traditional shapes, are all handmade and bisque fired. Her vessels are dipped in a tin glaze before the designs are painted on with oxides and pigments.

Breaking News: Art Gowns’ Models Turned into Mermaids

⚓⛵ HI SISTERS! AS YOU CAN SEE, EVERY MERMAID HAS AN OCEAN AND A UNIQUE DRESS. ENJOY!

Art Gowns

Mermaid Holly here! It’s terrifying, but myself & some of the Art Gowns’ models have been turned into mermaids.

We know who did this, and Princess Blue Holly has vowed to capture the evildoer, and return us to our regular gorgeous model selves. In the meantime, we’ve decided to have a fashion show, and I’m your host for the Art Gowns’ Mermaid Fashion Show.

First on the Runway is Mermaid Gigi, in a very Avant Garde quadruple fin, one shoulder eye catcher. Right behind is  Mermaid Rene Rosso in an ultra-green sweeping fan tail extravaganza with strapless bra top and full length gloves. What a show stopper!

Unfortunately Mermaid Rene Rosso won’t be singing a Torch Song for us, as it just sounds like she’s gurgling.

The usual beauty team can’t breath under water, so some very talented MerChicklets were hired by Mermaid Gigi for the event.

Boho-Jeansjacken Makeover

👖🎨WELL DEARS! WE ALSO CAN PUT A DIFFERENT KIND OF ART ON OUR JEANS CLOTHES.

Breakthrough

💻 HI DARLINGS! REMEMBER THAT YOU ALSO CAN SKETCH WITH SOME APPS FOR COMPUTER AS SISTER KERRY DO.

Kerry C. Mitchell's Adventures

This is a painting that I did in a computer app called Rebelle. It is a watercolor app that looks just like real watercolors and acts just like real watercolors. It also has inks, acrylics, markers, pastels and pencils.

Artistically, I’ve been in a real funk for about eight or nine months. I’ve been quite ill all that time and I guess it just took my art abilities away from me. It’s been really frustrating and frightening and depressing.

However, I’m finally feeling better. Not all the way healthy, but better.

As a result, I’ve felt like painting again. And I’ve wanted to paint in this particular app because it makes these fabulous drips. Just like real life drips. It is mesmerizing to sit and put water on the acrylic paint and watch it flow.

So I’m calling this painting Breakthrough because I didn’t think I’d ever make a halfway…

Mid-March

🔹🔸YES LOVELIES, A LITTLE OF ABSTRACTION IS SO HEALTHY FOR OUR MIND. THIS IS SUBLIME!

ABSTRACTS

A short series…in progress…an extension of Space Rocks.

Color pencil of abstract rocks.

On colored card stock.

Current studio practice is seated on my great grandmother’s crazy quilt, scraps of my grandmother’s and great aunt and uncle’s childhood clothes. This coat, that suit, in queen size wool. A history before mine to work it’s way back into the current.

In blues.

And yellows.
