😋 WELL BEAUTIES, IN BARCELONA WE APPRECIATE THESE CAKES KNOWN IN PORTUGAL AS ‘PASTÉIS’ FROM ITS BELÉM CITY.

I have to confess that a lot of egg tarts were harmed in the making of these sketches.  Among them was the most hideous batch I’ve ever seen on sale anywhere – blistered and partly burnt – but which turned out to be the most interesting for drawing.

An exercise in self-control, exhibit A:

It was okay, this one didn’t look too appetizing anyway:

Have you ever tried stopping halfway through eating an egg tart?

I learned to eat an egg tart first and then draw a second one:

Just one.  More.  Bite.  (And no, the crust isn’t supposed to stick to the tin like that.)

  1. Oh my god-pastel de nata. I tried it in Lisbon, you can find it anywhere, not just in Belem.
Then when I saw it in Madrid, I almost cried.

    Beautiful, mouth-watering!

Amazing work. Also the progression reminds me of Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake. 🙂 Attention to the deary details of vanishing goodies.
