Multidisciplinary artist Melissa Procter presentsa series of miniature mixed media sculpturesin her solo exhibition ‘Balancing Act’at Compact Contemporary, from 1st – 22nd March 2021.

Procter uses materials not traditionally used in fine art, preferring those morecommonly found in DIY stores. Theartist’s practice involves creating abstract assemblages, sculpture and collage.

She is interested in the juxtaposition between analogue and digital, 2D and 3D; and natural and synthetic. Procter has produced small art works for this exhibition at Compact Contemporary, which is a gallery in a repurposed dolls’ house. Her work explores the notion of scale in sculpture, and the artist challenges the cliche that it must be created toa large scale.

The artist is currently a student at University of Hertfordshire.
