What have I been doing…?

SO TRUE DEARS, I GREAT ARTIST HAS ENOUGH WITH A FEW PAINTBRUSH STROKES TO DEPICT SOMETHING SO WONDERFUL LIKE THESE MUSHROOM.

It is almost a year since I posted anything. I haven’t fallen off the planet but been distracted and only doing life drawing… But one of the ‘distractions’ has come round again. I organise a ‘Secret Art Sale’ in my home town for our local hospital charity and 2020 will be its 3rd year. I started as my late husband spent a few weeks on and off in there and they were good to us. A new Cancer Care centre was to be built and paid for by fund raising and I wanted to do something to help. I dislike sponsored events so took the idea from the RCA Secret Postcard and held our own Secret Art Sale. It’s a win/win/win situation: artists exhibit their work, art lovers buy original art at a good price, and the charity gets the money! So far the Secret Art Sale has raised just…

Nourishing the mind for happiness and focus

🌳 👁️ 👁️ ❓WELL LOVELIES, WHEN NOBODY KNOWS, WE CAN BEHOLDING LANDSCAPE. AFTER DOUBTS WE WILL ALWAYS LEARN SOMETHING.

Enviroart by Suzanne Bélair, IAF, AFC

I have a confession to make. I have been totally unfocused on my own work lately. I am blaming a bunch of exterior factors and demands but I am also to blame because I forgot something fundamental in the last few weeks, and that is to take some time for myself and take care of my mind.

Personne ne sait
Nobody knows
@Suzanne Belair
Acrylic on canvas 20 x 16

As Dr Michael Rich, Harvard physician, puts it, “Downtime is to the brain what sleep is to the body”, so honour your limits and allow your brain to truly relax. When you’re fresh, focus, when you’re spent, refresh.

Unfortunately today, when it comes to health, we generally put the emphasis on the body, eating well, exercising and getting our sleep.

But we also have to pay attention to our mind because if we are not happy, it doesn’t matter how…

in between times

🏞️ HI DEARS, AS YOU CAN CHECK, OIL PASTELS CAN BE A WONDERFUL STUFF ON THE HANDS OF AN INSPIRED SKETCHER.

Aletha Kuschan's Weblog

rock creek park scene

Courses in life seldom run straight.  Like a river or creek they bend against time.  I work steadily toward my “big painting” project and yet it seems to be standing still at present.  In between times I am also beginning to draw landscapes outdoors in oil pastel.  I made this drawing quickly.

Might be going out again today.  These drawings — at present — aren’t ones that I set out to make — not yet — not so far.  They are instead things that I do while I’m waiting around for someone else.  So sometimes when I am on someone else’s schedule, I still draw.  I am finding more and more that bits of time gathered here and there are useful for seeing.  I probably never would have made this drawing had I not found myself momentarily at loose ends.

And you never know where these things lead.

Shibui Found Image Art, the process of one Shibui.

🏞️ HELLO SISTERS! TODAY WE’VE GOT A GREAT EXAMPLE OF ‘SHIBUI’ ART. ENJOY !

Anisette Studios & Shibui Fine Arts

This has been one of the most intricate Shibui’s I have made. The trees were runs of light watercolor. The edges are what was there. The line work is using found edges first, then adding intentional lines where the lines need to be to make something found complete. The outside of the leaves where there on the outside of the cluster, and made according what I found inside the boundaries of the pooled we medium. Watercolor in this image. I did create the center line of the leaves to work the shape. After finding most of the leaves in the cluster intentional ones were created to give the illusion of the canopy of leaves, and thos leaves coming forward, as well as being under in behind.

There are awkward areas that form, do these last, don’t solve them until they are clear to you. It will happen. Shibui are like…

Eye Candy

🥧 🍫 🍰 WELL SISTERS, WE’VE ALREADY GOT OUR DESSERT.

Yard Sale of Thoughts

This poem was inspired from this week’s FBTF #24 Breakaway. The challenge to craft some piece of art involving the names of popular candy. Join us.

You arms, my Lucky Charms,
Everlasting Gobstopper eyes,
colorful layered surprises,
Twinkie of a winkie,
sweet all-day Snickers
that tingle my knickers.
