Orange and Blue in the Mid-Twenties

👒🎩⏳ HELLO SUGARS! LET’S HAVE A MOMENT TO REVIEW THOSE OLD DRAWINGS

witness2fashion

When I wrote about the orange and black color combination that was popular in the nineteen twenties, I found out that there are still some devoted lovers of orange out there. It turns out that orange and blue were often pictured together in Delineator fashion illustrations in 1924 and 1925.

Of course, orange and blue are complementary colors, opposite each other on the color wheel, and therefore they enhance each other when juxtaposed, — orange seeming brighter and blue seeming more vivid — so illustrators may have put them side by side for this reason.

But orange and blue — in slightly pastel tints — was a frequent combination in garments, especially in clothing for girls.

Happy First Day Of Spring, In Drawings.

🌷🖌️🌷🖍️🌷 HI DARLINGS! LET’S REMEMBER WE ALREADY CAN ENJOY THE SPRING, BUT DON’T MISS TO SKETCH.

Cindy Mangomini

Hand drawn color illustrated fashion, food and plant items celebrating the first day of spring, with a text: enjoy spring

Enjoy Spring 2021!

Happy first day of spring! (On the Northern Hemisphere that is.) This illustration is a collection of fashion, food and plant items to celebrate the start of spring and to hopefully give you some sunny spring vibes! It really sums up my personal spring mood, style and plans.

I did not expect we’d be going into our second lockdown spring. But, I’m hopeful that the end of the pandemic is near and life will start to get back to normal soon, and plan to enjoy spring as much as I can.

Fancy and Not-Fancy Pajama Sets: Sartorial Choice for 2021

🌜 WELL SISTERS! A STYLING PAJAMA COULD BE THE BEGINNING FOR A PERFECT DREAM.

Sew Everything Blog

The image in the header of this post is from VogueRunway.com — Valentino, Pre-Fall 2016.Make sure you go all the way to the end of this post to see inspiration pictures!

In 2020 and now 2021, if you worked from home (or not) and listened to the fashion pundits and follow fashion week offerings, you’ll note that there are many sartorial options that are loose, and actually flattering. The comfort rises to nightwear level  – and that is to be expected when people are wisely staying home, and when the verb “zoom” has attained a second meaning.

Bear with me while I reminisce in the next two paragraphs, to demonstrate that nothing in fashion is new. If not, you can skip to the 2021 part.

In the 1990s: As they say, “we want pictures or it didn’t happen”.  Unfortunately there are no photos of what I am describing…

Patterns from Home

🦋 🐦🐎 WELL LOVELIES, WE NOT ONLY CAN DESIGN FASHION, WE ALSO CAN DRAW SOME PATTERNS OF OUR CLOTHES.

How to Write About Art

I loved doing this monochrome painting, copied from a cotton scarf I have. I drew the pattern first then used ultramarine watercolour, with a fine brush. And all the while I listened to Native American flute music! Very calming:). Happy drawing:)

When Fashion And Nature Collide – The Illusion Edition

🌄 SO TRUE DEARS, NATURE INSPIRES ART AND ALSO CHARMING FASHION.

Blank Facebook Post IEdition
Playing with sights, sounds and feelings – this is fine art at its finest. In fashion, we use colors, prints, designs and layers to create illusions as well. Personally, I take great inspiration from Salvador Dali because of his ability to completely warp reality on a whim to get his point across.
The entire premise of When Fashion and Nature Collide is to take some of nature’s best ideas and add our little Dali-esque twist to it. Darren has outdone himself this month with his artistic pictures of unusual flowers that resemble something other than flowers. They are olfactory and visual decoys that attract pollinators or repel predators. Great illusions and proof that Mother Nature has a funny sense of humour.

My outfits this month are based on three flowers and one insect.
