A Scribbly Doodle Do

〽️〰️ HELLO BEAUTIES! TODAY ABSTRACTION IS NOT GEOMETRIC LIKE YESTERDAY, BUT IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND FULL OF INTEREST.

Jill's Art Journal

Yesterday, I started an online painting class with Jennifer Mercede, hosted by Carla Sonheim, called: Bright Color Scribble Journal Painting.

I was inspired by the artist’s use of bright colors in her paintings especially since I am ready for Spring! If you are interested in seeing more of Jennifer’s art, she is on Instagram: #JenniferMercede

One of our first assignments was to scribble with a ball point pen and then color in shapes with color pencils. This is my scribble drawing:

I made a color copy of my scribble and discovered two weird birds so I cut them out and added a black circle for an eye. I added a couple of additional shapes to complete them.

How to do you like my Scribbly Doodle Do’s?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 😃

P.S. I think this would be a fun project to do with a child.

And for extra…

Dieser Augenblick

💐 HALLO, SCHÖNE! BLUMEN WISSEN VIEL DARÜBER, WAS DER TEXT BEDEUTET

Entends-tu mon ami ?

Wales

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ❤️🤍💚 HELLO SISTERS! TODAY WE FLY OVER THE BEAUTIFUL LANDS OF RED DRAGON (To see picture, click on “View original post”).

One Woman's Quest

Was moonstone,
the year I travelled

Crossed the ocean
landed in a shared
caravan in Wales

Tongue tripping
over place names
thought echoing

over green, mountainous
expanses – heart mending

with each panoramic
view of Lake Bala.

Do Danish Cows Like Gouache?

🐂🇩🇰 HI DEARS! WHY THESE DANISH COWS CAN’T BE A GOOD BEHOLDERS? 😉

Deliberate Sketching

I was out looking for a scene to paint and stopped at a bird sanctuary. It was a gorgeous scene with a pond, geese, a meadow, trees, and a herd of cows.

Since I am traveling without an easel, I usually put my palette and sketchbook on a convenient surface, like a picnic table or bench. I was glad there was a wooden fence that enclosed the cows in their meadow, and I set up my materials on it. As I painted, the cows slowly came closer and closer, and it looked like they were eyeing my tubes of gouache, which made me wonder, do Danish cows like gouache?

Sometimes I Sit and Watch the Fox and…

🦊 HELLO SISTERS! TODAY WE CAN SEE HOW OUR MOTIF RETURNS OUR OBSERVATION TO US, AS IF IT WERE ALSO ANOTHER ARTIST.

OrangePurpleGreen

The local fox visits quite frequently. Sometimes the crows tell me he’s there and sometimes I’m lucky and I’m looking out the window when he comes by.

My camera is usually nearby and I have many photographs to paint from.

He frequently drinks out of the bird bath which is on the ground because the raccoons broke the stand.

I occasionally see him when I’m out on my early morning walk.

Sometimes he sits and watches me.

June 2022 Adventures in Latvia

🌊🐠🐟🐡 HELLO BEAUTIES! WE CONTINUE WITH THE SEA. THIS TIME IS FOR BALTICS. A WONDERFUL TRIP WITH GREAT SKETCHES.

valeriesmythe

My travels continue in the Baltics, arriving in Riga, Latvia. I liked the old town although more cobbled streets for my aching feet to endure. Lots of shops and businesses shut, so a less wealthy feeling than Tallinn and Tartu in Estonia. We stayed in quite a neglected area, but the highlight was a visit to the amazing and huge Riga market- the biggest in Europe. It was full of ordinary people shopping. The fish hall was outstanding, a feast for the eyes and for drawing. The veg and fruit hall and stalls outside were stunning, some stalls were colourful and carefully arranged, others were more simple, just a few sparse things. As I wandered I found myself behind a statuesque woman in a modern, new beige trench coat, with very long black hair walking slowly in a distinctive Tai Chi walk. I was fascinated by her grounded presence. Quite…
