The spirit indomitably lingers on, after the unexpected death of German modern dance vanguard Pina Bausch (1940-2009), succumbed to an unstated cancer, days before the official shooting of her documentary, Wim Wenders’s original idea of scrapping the project is sagely dissuaded by the dancers of Tanztheater Wuppertal, Pina’s brainchild in Wuppertal, Germany. Likewise for me ‘ART’ has become such epoch-making process of my life now.
Like if i dont do any paintings for long days, i feel weird.. its not like i am an pro level artist or so, but as you might know from my old posts that how much i love drawing anything small or big does not matter.
I feel a kind of serenity whenever i just complete a drawing and look at it, feels immense happiness!!!

Letters from Athens

Despite the lockdown we’ve been having quite a busy time what with one thing and another, and I’ve found it difficult in the last few weeks to work on any larger paintings. Especially since my studio is in the kitchen, and larger paintings have to go on the kitchen table, then the lot must be cleared away before meals if we are to be more than two using it. Is it any wonder that I work with water-based media? Oils would be impossible, what with the smell of turpentine and the permanent drips everywhere.

I’m not complaining, though, because I do love to work on paper. Often I just make a series of drawings.

Life Drawing in Line and Shape

Sketch Away: Travels with my sketchbook

To answer a question I get asked pretty often, “Do you do line first or shape/color first?” I shot this little video while sketching in a virtual life drawing session.

The answer: I go either way and the end results aren’t that different.

I would go back to non-virtual life drawing sessions in a heartbeat, they are a completely different experience, but for now I enjoy the fact that any day I think I can squeeze in some time to join a session, there is one somewhere in the world that i can join.

Day 215 Kitties Cleanup

Kitties cleanup after breakfast this am. I was quite daring and left four of them inside last night. Nobody knocked on the bedroom door to wake us up this morning. However they were excited to go outside and eat breakfast. Tootsie Weenie and Hallie will let me pet them a little while they eat.

They seem to like “inside” and especially the tiled laundry room. So far no poo anywhere.

Namiki Fude so much fun to draw with but that Noodlers Eelskin ink which is suppose to be permanent smears even after its dry. 😩😩😩
